Philipps-Universität Marburg (Philipps University of Marburg) is a public research university in Marburg, Hesse, Germany. Founded in 1527 by Landgrave Philip of Hesse, it is the oldest Protestant university in the world. No tuition fees charged at Philipps University of Marburg. Students pay only a Semesterbeitrag (semester contribution) of 424.80 EUR per semester (WS 2026/27), which includes a Germany-wide semester transport ticket, student services fee, student union fee, and an administrative contribution. Exchange students may be exempt from the 50 EUR administrative fee.
