RMIT University was established in 1887 as the Working Men's College to bring education to the working people of Melbourne. It describes itself as a global university of technology, design and enterprise with a focus on interdisciplinary and applied research.
As a dual-sector institution, RMIT offers vocational qualifications and pathways into higher education alongside undergraduate, postgraduate and research study. International fees are published by program and selected academic year in AUD for Australian campuses. Fees are held constant within each calendar year; annual increases may be up to 7.5%, with rounding potentially exceeding that percentage. Invoices normally reflect semester enrolled load. RMIT UP charges weekly; Foundation Studies and VCE use a flat semester fee. Tuition excludes SSAF and applicable materials, administrative and activity expenses. Some international applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee, credited to the tuition deposit after accepting and commencing. Domestic fees vary by study level and course.
