Sapienza Università di Roma, founded in 1303, is the oldest university in Rome and the largest in Europe. A leading public research university, it enrolls over 125,000 students and offers 311 Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes (including over 73 taught in English), 200 master courses, 98 doctoral programmes, and 87 specialisation schools across 11 faculties and 58 departments. It ranks first among Italian universities in the QS World University Rankings and the ARWU Shanghai ranking, and 147th globally in the THE World University Rankings 2026.

Undergraduate tuition fees are income-based (ISEE): free for ISEE up to €24,000, with reductions up to €40,000, paid in three instalments. Master (postgraduate) fees vary by course and are not ISEE-reduced. Students scoring 100 at maturità receive a fee waiver.
