Southern Cross University dates its university history to 1994 and has regional roots in the Northern Rivers, Coffs Harbour and the Gold Coast. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate coursework alongside Masters by Thesis, PhD and joint PhD opportunities. Study areas include business, education, engineering, health, information technology, law, Indigenous knowledge, science and environment, hotel management and veterinary sciences. The Southern Cross Model organises learning into six-week terms, with students generally focusing on one or two units at a time. Research impact clusters bring researchers together to address regional and global issues, including marine health, agriculture and community wellbeing. Student support includes academic and career advice, counselling and accommodation assistance, with on-campus UniLodge residences at Lismore and Coffs Harbour.
