Founded in 1953 as the Higher Institute of Food and Flavour Industries, the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv has evolved into a premier center for food science and technology. It is the only university of its kind in the Balkan Peninsula, offering a wide range of programs including food industry, biotechnology, foodservice, tourism, and automation. The university maintains a strong research focus, with over 100 lecturers holding PhD degrees and additional faculty holding Doctor of Science degrees. The campus covers 17,000 square meters and serves approximately 3,300 students annually. It provides comprehensive academic and non-academic facilities, including libraries, sports centers, and on-campus housing.
