Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) is a public research university in Kaunas, Lithuania, founded in 2010 through the merger of Kaunas University of Medicine and the Lithuanian Veterinary Academy. It is Lithuania's largest health sciences university, with seven faculties: Medicine, Odontology, Pharmacy, Public Health, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, and Animal Science. LSMU offers integrated master's programmes in Medicine (6 years), Odontology (5 years), Pharmacy (5 years), and Veterinary Medicine (6 years); a wide range of bachelor's and master's programmes; residency programmes; and doctoral studies in 10 research fields. The university is #1 in Lithuania for biomedicine, with 28% international students, 20 programmes taught in English, and 323 partner universities across more than 49 countries. Approximately 400 students go abroad annually via Erasmus+ and other exchange programmes. All study programmes are accredited by SKVC, the Lithuanian Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education. LSMU has 9 student dormitories in Kaunas and offers merit, named, and social scholarships to students. The university's research activities span natural, medical, health, and agricultural sciences, with over 240 doctoral students enrolled and approximately 40 doctoral theses defended each year.
