University of Applied Arts Vienna

The University of Applied Arts Vienna (Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien), commonly known as die Angewandte, is a public university in Vienna, Austria, founded in 1863. One of Europe's leading arts universities, it offers diploma, bachelor, master, and doctoral programmes in fine arts, design, architecture, media arts, conservation and restoration, art education, language arts, cultural studies, and social design. Programmes are offered in both German and English, and the university hosts over 2,000 students from nearly 90 countries. All programmes require a competitive entrance examination assessing artistic aptitude. The university has active research activities, partner universities across Europe and beyond, and an Erasmus+ exchange programme. It is institutionally accredited through the Austrian quality assurance system (EVALAG audit, positive decision, valid until 2030).
